• Best BBQ Chef Competition


The City of New London and the Downtown New London Assoc.  are proud to host the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) championship cook-off  for the seventh year in a row!

This year the event will take place on August 13, 2017 at New London Waterfront Park.  Teams from all over New England will be competing.

The teams are there to compete and cannot sell their food. So, we have also brought in some food trucks who will be selling BBQ food for the event. Uncle D’s Blazin BBQ will be back to the event for the fourth year selling pulled pork, ribs, and chicken with all the fixins’.

New London’s Best BBQ Chef Competition Contest is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS).  KCBS 2017 contest rules will be in effect.


KCBS contest entrance fee: $275


Meat Inspection- August 12

Cooks Meeting – August 12 at 4 pm


The 4 four categories will be judged in the following order:


Chicken             Noon

Pork Ribs          12:30 pm

Pork                 1:00 pm

Beef Brisket       1:30 pm


Awards Presentation 3 pm – Approximately


Sites are 10 x 30 – Includes Electricity (20 amps)


All teams must adhere to Ledge Light Health District and New London Fire codes.


The winner of this year’s event receives:

Total prize money $5,500.00
